WILTON, Joseph, 53502, Lance Corporal.
15th Battalion, Durham Light Infantry.

He was born in 1890 in Darlaston, the the son of Thomas and Martha Wilton. The 1891 and 1901 census shows the family living at 14, Tilley St, Darlaston. In 1911 their address is shown as Pinfold St, Darlaston, Joseph’s occupation is shown as a Labourer in a sawmill.

He enlisted in Darlaston and was originally number 20530 in the South Staffs Regiment. At some point he was transferred to the Durham Light Infantry.

Killed in action on the 9th April 1917.
He has no known grave and is remembered on the Arras Memorial, France.

He was entitled to the War Medal and the Victory Medal.
