GREEN, George Thomas, 240842, Corporal.

1st/6th Battalion, South Staffordshire Regiment.

He was born in Wednesbury in 1883 the son of Agnes and ?

He married Sarah Ann Tracey in early 1906 at Darlaston.

He enlisted at Darlaston and was first sent to France on the 19th August 1915.

He was killed in action on the 1917 aged 34.

He has no known grave and is remembered on the Arras Memorial, France.

The ARRAS MEMORIAL commemorates 34,773 servicemen from the United Kingdom, South Africa and New Zealand who died in the Arras sector between the spring of 1916 and 7 August 1918.

George was entitled to the 1914-15 Star, War Medal and Victory Medal.

NOTES.

By the age of 8 he is living with his mother and step-father, Charles Higgins.

At the time of the 1911 census the family were living at 10, Mill Lane, Darlaston.
